Causes of pain
Specific causes of pain are too numerous to list. However, they can be broken down into various categories including:
- Injury -(mechanical- accidents such as falls, sprains, cuts)
- (temperature-heat, cold)
- (electrical-burn)
- (chemical-acid burn)
- Disease- (cancer, kidney disease, blood vessel disease, heart disease, arthritis)
- Infection (viral, bacterial, fungal)
- Inflammation (brought on by disease, injury, infection)
- Oxygen starvation (brought on by disease or injury)
- Nerve damage (brought on by disease or injury)
- Stress (results in headaches, increased perception of pain and prolongs pain)
- Fatigue (increases the perception of pain and lowers tolerance to it)
